Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
This policy explains what data PollGarden collects and why. We keep it minimal by design — we don’t sell your data, ever.
What we collect
- Account data: your email, and a display name/avatar (from Google or set by you).
- Poll & vote data: the polls you create and the votes cast on them. Votes are stored with hashed identifiers — we do not retain raw IP addresses; where needed for anti-abuse and per-day de-duplication, IPs are one-way hashed with a rotating salt.
- Cookies: a session cookie (when signed in), an anonymous voter identifier, your theme preference, and your ad-consent choice. See our Cookie Policy.
- Usage: aggregate counts like poll views and vote totals, plus (for poll owners on paid plans) referrer host and country of voters.
Who we share data with
We use a small set of trusted processors:
| Processor | Purpose | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-in (OAuth) | Only if you sign in with Google | |
| Brevo (EU) | Sending emails | Email address + name |
| Stripe | Payments | Handled entirely by Stripe — we never see card numbers |
| Cloudflare | CDN, Turnstile, file storage | Bot protection + delivery |
| Google AdSense | Ads (free tier only) | Consent-based; non-personalized without consent |
Retention
We keep your account data while your account is active. Delete your account and we remove your personal data; public polls are anonymized rather than deleted so results remain intact. Hashed anti-abuse identifiers expire automatically.
Your rights (GDPR & similar)
You can access, export or delete your data at any time from your account settings — “Export my data” downloads everything we hold about you as JSON, and “Delete account” removes it. You can also manage email preferences and unsubscribe with one click from any non-essential email.
